Maytree Scholarship Program

We would like to bring your attention to the 2009-2010 Maytree Scholarship Program for Protected Persons, and would very much appreciate your help in our outreach. We are seeking protected persons or landed immigrants who were protected persons who are between the ages 17 and 26, entering first or second year of a university or college in Toronto, and have demonstrated success in their academic, work and/or volunteer life.

The Maytree Scholarship Program is an intensive, participatory program which provides peer and financial support to a maximum of eight protected persons or landed immigrants who were protected persons living without parents in Toronto. The financial grant covers living expenses, books and transportation costs. Monthly meetings give the participants an opportunity to develop relationships where they receive support, build networks and have fun. The group engages in voluntary work throughout the school year, which helps further develop their sense of civic engagement and responsibility.

This year, Maytree offers another program in addition to the Scholarship Program. The Maytree Awards Program will provide financial support to a maximum of ten eligible candidates.
