Saving for Your Child's Education (RESPs)

Build a brighter future for your child by following the recommended Government of Canada Steps to save for your child's education:

  1. Apply for the child’s Social Insurance Number (SIN)
  2. Take out a Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP) once you have received the child’s SIN.
  3. Ask your RESP provider to apply for the CESG (Canada Education Savings Grant) on your behalf. The funds will be deposited directly into his or her RESP.

Grant Eligibility Criteria

  • Beneficiary must have a Social Insurance Number
  • Beneficiary must be a Canadian resident
  • Beneficiary must be 17 years of age or less
