Saving for Your Child's Education (RESPs)
Build a brighter future for your child by following the recommended Government of Canada Steps to save for your child's education:
- Apply for the child’s Social Insurance Number (SIN)
- Take out a Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP) once you have received the child’s SIN.
- Ask your RESP provider to apply for the CESG (Canada Education Savings Grant) on your behalf. The funds will be deposited directly into his or her RESP.
Grant Eligibility Criteria
- Beneficiary must have a Social Insurance Number
- Beneficiary must be a Canadian resident
- Beneficiary must be 17 years of age or less
