Star launches parenting website
The Toronto Star today introduces parentcentral.ca, a website created to serve families throughout the Greater Toronto Area.
Complete news and information for parents at parentcentral.ca

Parentcentral.ca builds upon the extensive coverage of family issues for which the Star is well-known, then adds web-exclusive news, information and tools, including blogs by Andrea Gordon and Ann Douglas (author of "The Mother of All…" series of parenting books). As parentcentral.ca editor Brandie Weikle explains in her welcome note: "What will you find here? Parenting information with a distinct Toronto bent - breaking news from school boards, the Hospital for Sick Children and Toronto Public Health. You'll be able to look up a school in your area, see how it rates according to the Education Quality and Accountability Office, and find the principal's name and number. If you're wondering what to do on the weekend, you can check out our detailed events calendar and monthly Top-10 list of things to do in the GTA with kids. "We've got a database of daycares and any registered complaints against them. At-your-fingertips info about where to find walk-in clinics, drug stores, obstetricians, family doctors and paediatricians. If there's a toy recall, you'll find out about it here first, alongside the latest news about children's health, education and family finance. "We're using the resources of Canada's largest newspaper to bring you this information sooner and with more analysis than any other parenting website in the country. All of this will be delivered with voices as diverse as our city, because we know there are all kinds of parents, all kinds of kids and many roads to parenthood." Over the next few weeks, parentcentral.ca will be growing just about as fast as kids do, with many more features for you and your family. So if you're a parent, a future parent or even a grandparent, we hope you'll visit parentcentral.ca soon. And please, tell us what you think.
