Students who are looking for assistance to pay for their education abroad should start with their home country to determine the availability of funding from their local government; protected persons such as Convention refugees may be eligible for funding from foreign governments.
International Education Finance Corporation (IEFC) is a provider of international student loan programs. Over 20,000 students to date have reached their goal of financing their international educations through their innovative and unique loan programs.
Refugee students who have the status of Protected Persons are now eligible for federal student loans and most provincial student loan programs. (Quebec, the Northwest Territories and Nunavut run their own student loan programs and protected persons are not currently eligible for these programs.)
